Electoral Registration

The Register of Electors

The Electoral Registration Officer is responsible for compiling and maintaining a Register of Electors for the areas they represent.  There are two versions of the Register :

The Electoral Register lists the names and addresses of everyone who is registered to vote in public elections.  This register is also used for calling people for jury service, preventing and detecting crime and checking applications for credit. Credit Reference agencies may only use it to check the customer’s name and address if applying for credit and other purposes specified in law.  The people and organisations entitled to receive this register are specified in law, further details on who can receive this register are included in our Privacy Notice

The Open Register is an extract of the Electoral Register, but it is not used for elections.  By law I am required to make it available for purchase. It may be purchased in whole or in part by any person, company or organisation.  For example, it is used by businesses and charities to confirm name and address details.

Opting out of the Open Register

Your name and address will be included in the Open Register unless you ask for them to be removed.  You can ask to be removed from the Open Register at any time and this will not affect your right to vote.  If you are already registered, you can contact the office using the contact details provided on the contact tab.
